trinidad & tobago vs. sweden

my god. who has ever predicted that this scoreline would even happen in this match. full time in dortmund and the score is 0-0. sweden failed to beat the stubborn defense of trinidad & tobago, noticably the goalkeeper, shaka hislop. my pick for the man of the match, he pulled out 6 magnificent saves in the whole match to keep the scoreline intact. early in the second half, avery john of trinidad & tobago received his second yellow card and was given his marching orders. despite down to ten men, sweden failed to break down the defense even with the introduction of kallstrom and jonson, two promising young stars in the second half. the best chance fell to ibrahimovic in the second half. a long ball into the penalty area was well received by ibrahimovic and with pressure from the trinidad defender, he pulled off a half volley from close range and forced a superb point blank save from shaka hislop. sweden failed to benefit from all the chances that they have created, thus handing the 1st ever point in the world cup finals for trinidad & tobago in their 1st ever appearance in this competition. the next match would be argentina vs. ivory coast, which promises to be a mouth watering clash between these two footballing giants in their respective continents. i'll be here again to blog the post match then.
